On September 13-17 Days of India took place on the Icebreaker Krasin. The festival marked 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Russia and 50th anniversary of sister-city relationship of St. Petersburg and Mumbai.
Official opening ceremony of the festival along with the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore on 13.09 was followed by a rich concert program by Satrangi and Devdan, the band "SAMHEY"(Nastya Saraswati), Indian band "Monomay" and arias from Russian opera performed by a soloist of Mikhailovsky Theatre, Anna Nalbandyants.
On September 14 the audience had a chance to enjoy Indian films (Mary Kom, Kahaani, Taare Zameen Par) all day long.
September 15, Madam Poonam Sharma conducted a cooking master class and a master class on sari draping.
Children's painting competition dedicated to the theme "Mumbai-SPB friendship" has taken place on the board of the Icebreaker on September 16 and the closing day of the festival was solely dedicated to Yoga. 5 master classes from the leading yoga teachers of St.Petersburg were conducted.
These five days on "Krasin" have shown the audience Indian culture in its diverse variety. Thank you for coming and enjoying this festival with us!
