Consulate General of India

Mr. Vishvas Sapkal has taken over as a Consul General of India, St. Petersburg, Russia from 25th August 2011.

Since his joining the Indian Foreign Service, Mr. Vishvas Sapkal has held diplomatic assignments in Indian Embassies at Moscow (Russia) and Yerevan (Armenia) and Consulate General of India, Chicago (USA). In the Ministry of External Affairs at New Delhi, Mr. Vishvas Sapkal worked in the Northern Division as Under Secretary (Bhutan) and then as Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary (Finance) in the Internal Finance Division.

Mr. Vishvas Sapkal earlier worked as Indian Information Service (IIS) Officer in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Government of India. He also worked as a Professor at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli and Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Institute of Technology, Budhgaon, Sangli before that he was an Engineer in Maharashtra Electronics Corporation (MELTRON) Ltd at Nagpur, Maharashtra.  Mr. Vishvas Sapkal is an Electronics Engineer from Shivaji UniversityMaharashtraIndia. He is married to Dr. Anita and has two sons.
